1952-1954- Tunisia has a war with France for their independence led by Habib Bourgubia from Tunisia who later became president
1957- In July 25 the monarchy in Tunisia is abolished in favor of a republic
1963- The French evacuation ends and the French leave their last base in Bizerta, Tunisia
1987- Habib Bourgubia was taken out of office by Zine el-Abidine in a "bloodless coup"
